V R Singh & Associates LLPChartered Accountants

Most growing companies reach a point where the accountant records transactions well, but nobody owns the close, the forecast, cash, compliance or the board. A full-time CFO is often a step too early. Our Virtual CFO engagements give you that ownership now: a Chartered Accountant who reviews your team's work, reports to promoters and the board, plans cash and budgets, and answers to lenders, investors and auditors.

Scope of the Virtual CFO role

Everything a full-time CFO owns, run as a monthly engagement

Your accounts team keeps recording transactions. We sit above them: reviewing, reporting, planning and answering to promoters, investors, lenders and auditors.

  • Group structuring and inter-company arrangements
  • India entity set-up and reporting for foreign parents

What reaches you each month

The monthly MIS pack

Every engagement produces the same backbone: one pack, issued by the 10th, reviewed with promoters in a standing meeting. It is short enough to read in twenty minutes and specific enough to act on.

Engagement models

Three levels of involvement, one standard of work

Each engagement is scoped to the company's stage and the strength of its in-house team, and set out in an engagement letter before work begins.

Every month

Run

Close review in the first week, MIS pack by the 10th, weekly cash forecast, compliance tracked to every due date, and a standing review with promoters.

Every quarter

Review

Board pack, re-forecast, advance tax and tax planning review, audit preparation, and a reset of priorities for the next quarter.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

What does a Virtual CFO do that our accountant does not?

Your accountant records transactions and files returns. A Virtual CFO reviews that work, turns it into reporting, plans the budget and cash, owns compliance across the company, and answers to promoters, the board, lenders and investors.

How is this different from hiring a full-time CFO?

You get CFO-level ownership of finance for the time the company actually needs, with a team behind the engagement. Many companies use a Virtual CFO until the finance function is large enough to justify a full-time hire, and we help recruit and hand over when that point comes.

Do you replace our accounts team?

No. We work with your team, set their close calendar and review their output. Where a company has no team, our accounting and outsourcing practice can handle bookkeeping under the Virtual CFO's review.

Can you also be our statutory auditor?

No. Where we act as Virtual CFO, we do not audit the same company, so that the auditor's independence is preserved. We coordinate closely with your auditors through the year.

How soon will we see the first MIS pack?

Usually within the first two to three months. The first month is a diagnostic; the second and third months stabilise the books and the close, and the first full pack follows.

Which accounting software do you work with?

Tally Prime, Zoho Books, SAP Business One and QuickBooks, with Excel and Power BI for MIS and dashboards. We work on your existing system and advise on changes only where they are needed.

Do you work with companies outside Mumbai?

Yes. Engagements run on shared access to your accounting system and documents, with video reviews and on-site visits as the scope requires.

Can you help us prepare for a fund raise or acquisition?

Yes. Transaction readiness covers the financial model, data room, vendor due diligence, diligence Q&A and post-deal reporting.

How is our information kept confidential?

All engagements are governed by the confidentiality requirements of the ICAI Code of Ethics and the engagement letter. Access to your systems is limited to the engagement team.
